When I was younger, my sister and I wanted to start our own band. We would go around telling friends and family our idea, but no one really took us seriously. No one believed in our dream of being popular singers one day. It’s a different story that we didn’t pursue a career in music, but it’s the idea of supporting kids’ dreams so they have the confidence to reach for the starts, regardless of the situation.
Often, we don’t give young children and teenagers enough credit. We assume that they’re still quite inexperienced, immature and perhaps unskilled, so we treat them differently and more child-like. Granted, the youth clearly aren’t able to excel as well as adults do, right? Wrong!
In the video you’re about to see below, two friends, Noelle and Ryland, stand on stage smartly dressed before two microphones. Noelle, wearing a simple yet beautiful black dress, and Ryland in his smart trousers and shirt with a tie, then begin to sing the ever-popular song, “The Prayer” by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion. And boy, do they do the song (and the original artists) proud!
Noelle sings first with her sweet and powerful voice and later, Ryland joins in to show the crowd what he’s made of. Together, the pair creates a sound that is soothing, strong and pure bliss. And not only did they give a performance that left many with goosebumps, they were also able to sing the song in two different languages—even more impressive! So impressive, in fact, that the video has received over an astonishing three million views on YouTube.
Naturally, people reacted extremely positively and gave the pair great compliments such as, “She is so dynamic and true, and he is so emotional and pure! I just couldn’t find a better cover of this Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli masterpiece!” and, “Tears streaming. BEAUTIFUL!”
